Birkenstock Repair Cost Guide — What To Expect
Birkenstock repair pricing varies widely depending on who does the work, what parts they use, and what your pair actually needs. This is a complete, honest breakdown of what repair costs at Village Cobblery — every service, every price, and what each service includes. No surprises, no hidden fees.
Standard Repair Pricing
- Resole — $75 — Replaces the worn outer sole with a genuine Birkenstock replacement sole. The right service when the sole is worn but the footbed is still structurally sound. Includes complimentary cork sealing, conditioning, and free return shipping.
- New Footbed + Resole — $115 — Replaces both the worn footbed and the outer sole with genuine Birkenstock replacement components. The right service when the footbed has compressed significantly or the cork has deteriorated. Includes complimentary cork sealing, conditioning, and free return shipping.
- Reheeling — $40 — Replaces the worn heel section of the outer sole. The right service when the heel is worn but the forefoot still has meaningful life remaining.
- Cork Sealing — $15 — Professional application of cork sealant to protect the exposed cork midsole from moisture and cracking. Recommended at every resole and as standalone annual maintenance. Complimentary on orders $75 and up.
- Buckle Replacement — $20 per buckle — Replaces a broken, corroded, or missing buckle with a genuine Birkenstock replacement buckle.
- Cleaning — $20 — Professional cleaning of the footbed, straps, and uppers. Removes dirt, odor, and surface buildup. Complimentary on orders $75 and up.

What Affects the Final Price
The prices above are the complete prices — there are no additional fees beyond what's listed. Free return shipping is included on all orders $75 and up. For orders under $75, return shipping is the customer's responsibility and is calculated based on your location at the time of return. We confirm all costs before sending your pair back so there are no surprises.
The only variable that might change the quoted price is if additional damage is discovered during the repair that wasn't visible in the photos — damaged cork underneath the sole, strap damage that only becomes apparent during disassembly. In those cases we contact you before proceeding with any additional work.
How Our Pricing Compares
Birkenstock repair pricing varies significantly across cobblers. The most important variable isn't price — it's whether the cobbler uses genuine Birkenstock replacement parts. A resole done with aftermarket substitute parts may cost the same as a genuine resole but will wear faster, feel different underfoot, and may not hold up the way a proper repair should. We use only genuine Birkenstock replacement parts on every repair. That's reflected in our pricing and in the longevity of our work.
Is Repair Worth the Cost
For most quality Birkenstock pairs the repair cost is straightforwardly justified against the cost of replacement. A $75 resole on a pair that would cost $160-$200 to replace new is an obvious value. A $115 footbed and resole on the same pair is still a strong value — and the repaired pair has the broken-in footbed that a new pair won't have for months. We've been doing this math with customers since 1983. Repair is almost always worth it for a pair with a sound footbed and intact straps.
