Mail-in shoe repair is easier than most people expect. If you don't have a good cobbler nearby — or your local shop doesn't work with Birkenstocks specifically — shipping your pair to a specialist is a practical, affordable option.
Here's exactly how to do it.
Step 1: Contact us first
Before you ship anything, reach out and describe what your shoes need. A quick email or phone call lets us confirm we can do the repair, give you an accurate price, and flag anything you should know before sending them in.
We serve mail-in customers across the US from our shop in Gualala, California. We specialize in Birkenstock repair using genuine Birkenstock parts. Visit our Birkenstock repair page for full details.
Step 2: Pack your shoes properly
Good packing prevents damage in transit. Here's what to do:
- Wrap each shoe individually in paper or bubble wrap
- Place them toe-to-toe or heel-to-heel so they cushion each other
- Use a box that's snug but not so tight it crushes the shoes
- If you have the original box, even better
- Do not use plastic bags — they trap moisture
Include a note inside the box with your name, return address, phone number or email, and a description of what you'd like done.
Step 3: Choose your shipping method
USPS Priority Mail is usually the most cost-effective option for shoes. It includes tracking and delivers in 2–3 business days to most US addresses. For heavier or bulkier pairs, compare rates with UPS and FedEx.
Always get a tracking number and keep it until your shoes are returned.
Step 4: Insure your shipment
Shoes have real value — especially a pair of well-worn Birkenstocks you've broken in over years. USPS Priority Mail includes up to $100 of insurance by default. If your pair is worth more than that to you, declare additional value when you ship.
Step 5: Return shipping
We'll contact you when your repair is complete and let you know the return shipping cost before sending them back. Return shipping is the customer's responsibility. We'll pack your shoes carefully and send them back with tracking.
Turnaround time
Most repairs take approximately two weeks from the time we receive your shoes. We'll keep you updated along the way.
